Western Massachusetts

There is no better time to visit Western Massachusetts than Autumn.

Plus, this is our old stomping ground, having lived in Amherst and neighboring South Deerfield. Our first stop, every time we visit this area, is Atkins Farm Stand. The best farm stand we have ever seen. We purchased some amazing baked goods.

For lunch, we had some great Japanese curry at a downtown Amherst restaurant, followed by a walk around Main Street, and down this fun, one-person-at-a-time alley.

Returning to my alma-mater UMass Amherst, we walked around the campus, enjoying the incredibly warm fall day. With so many new, modern buildings on campus, it was hard to recognize. A lot sure has changed since I last walked here as a student in 1990!

No visit to this area is complete without a stop at the Yankee Candle factory in South Deerfield. This is a candle-lovers dream destination. A fun, country style store, that is sprawling with everything candle, and so much more.

After some candle purchases, we drove to historic Deerfield. One of this area's prettiest locations.

On the way back through South Deerfield, we drove up Sugarloaf, and enjoyed the view of the Connecticut River Valley.

Amherst and South Deerfield hold very special memories for us, and we always cherish the opportunity to visit this area.
