Our First Summer Visitor

We can't think of anyone that loves Falmouth and the Cape more than we do . . . with the possible exception of our son. And he was very excited to be visiting us in Falmouth for the long 4th of July weekend.

We are thrilled to have him here with us in Falmouth. He spent 5 months with us here last summer.

His red-eye flight from Denver arrived to Logan airport around 6:00a, and we were in Falmouth before 7:30a. He had a long list of things he wanted to do, and they pretty much all centered around seafood.

Our first stop was Sandwich Marina, and Superior Seafood. For $13.95 you can get a take-away lobster roll. It is lobster meat, a hot dog bun, and a bag of Cape Cod potato chips. This may be the best deal on Cape Cod.

We drove around Falmouth, enjoying the nice day, before relaxing with a couple beers at the Flying Bridge Bar at the Falmouth Marina.

The next morning, we got up early and enjoyed some fishing beneath the Bourne bridge with my brother. Being so close to Bourne, we decided to stop in to Kingman Marina to see my brother's new purchase - his Sea Ray boat. We sat and enjoyed the view, and decided that it was time that this new purchase take its first journey. We were soon joined by the entire gang, and we went for a short boat ride along Falmouth's west coast, seeing Megansett harbour, past New Silver Beach, Old Silver Beach, and down to Chappaquit beach before heading back to the mooring.

That evening, we enjoyed fresh local lobsters. Perfect!

The weekend and 4th of July passed way too quickly. Not the best weather, and the famous Falmouth fireworks were cancelled due to clouds and rain.

On his last day, we drove into Boston for a bit of sightseeing and more eating. Our first stop was Seaport, where we finally had a chance to visit Harpoon Brewery. The brewery is very cool, and the beer is delicious. We drove up to Cambridge and walked around the MIT campus. The views of Boston are incredible. We drove and explored lots of Boston, before ending up in the North End. We always end up in the North End, and we had our obligatory dinner at our favorite restaurant - Carmelinas. Alex stopped in to Mikes to grab some cannolis to take back on the plane.

We were very sad to drop him off at the airport. It was great having him back with us in Falmouth, and it was fun to see him get excited about the sites and tastes of the Cape and Boston.
