Wellfleet, Eastham & Chatham

We are experiencing some very warm weather for early November, so we took advantage and took a drive towards Lower Cape. We have previously visited Chatham several times during the summer, particularly with guests. But, we wanted to explore a bit further, so we headed towards the Cape Cod National Seashore.

Our first stop was the Cape Cod National Seashore Salt Pond Visitor Center. What an amazing location! The views to the marsh and salt pond are fantastic.

We then drove to the famous Coast Guard Beach, with its amazing views of Nauset Beach.

Two minutes along the water and we were at Lighthouse Beach. Some great views of the ocean, and some intrepid surfers who were unbothered by the warning signs.

Along a dirt path, we found a hut that was used by Marconi for the first telegraph cable to connect America with Europe.

Just beyond, we found a Cape Cod icon - the Nauset Lighthouse. Look familiar? Yup, this is the lighthouse on millions of Cape Cod potato chip bags.

Time for lunch. But where do we eat? Most of the restaurants around here are closed for the season. A quick drive up to Wellfleet and we found a local BBQ joint - it was awesome!

On the way back to Falmouth, we wanted to stop in Chatham to visit the Fish Pier, say hi to our seal friends and a massive school of baitfish, and stop in town for the Cape's best fudge. The weather made it feel like summer. The lack of tourists made it feel like off-season. Just the way we like it.
