My brother and sister-in-law are away this weekend, so we are staying at their home in Sandwich to take care of their dog and cat. This is a great opportunity to do two things: enjoy the sights around Sandwich, and relax by their pool!
The weather on the Cape has been quite hot and humid, so we were looking forward to the pool as a break from the heat. However, the weather turned on Friday with dramatically cooler temperatures. On Sunday morning, we awoke to 58 degrees! We actually had to turn the pool heater on in order to swim.
On Saturday afternoon, we drove around Sandwich and visited a couple beaches. It was a gorgeous afternoon, and the perfect time to walk the boardwalk, despite the fact that most of it is closed for construction.
On Sunday morning, we drove to Main Street and walked the charming streets of 'downtown' Sandwich. Great place for a coffee, and there is an excellent bakery there. Another stunning morning, while we waited for the pool to warm up so we could spend the afternoon swimming.
It was a very nice weekend in Sandwich, and it was good fun spending time with their pets. But we were very happy to get back to our little cottage in Falmouth, which has quickly become our local Cape Cod 'home'.
