The Roadtrip to 50

It's September. International borders are closed. Travel is restricted. So, what do you do?

You pack your bags for a good old-fashioned road trip. Where? Well, North Dakota, of course.

Wait, what?

We planned a trip to North Dakota for one, very simple reason. It is the only state I have not yet visited.

Day one of our road trip brought us through northeastern Colorado, southern Nebraska, up through eastern Nebraska, into eastern South Dakota. Due to massive forest fires in Colorado and California, the sky was orange, and the sun was red.

So, what does one see on a drive through Nebraska and South Dakota?

Corn. Lots and lots of corn.

Our eventual destination for the evening was Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Once we arrived into town, we stopped at the USS South Dakota memorial, and then walked along Phillips Ave. This part of Sioux Falls has some cool public art and lots of sculptures.

We decided to host our own pub crawl, including a stop at some local breweries. Our first beer was at Fernson Downtown. Good beer, and a nice outdoor patio. We enjoyed a few taster beers at Remedy Brewing, and really enjoyed their patio, where they even had some live music. We strolled around the area before crossing the lit pedestrian bridge on the Big Sioux River.

The next morning, we stopped by the Farmers Market near Falls Park, enjoyed some fresh baked goods, and spent some time exploring the waterfalls for which the city was named.
