Stroll around the Pond, Baseball Fields & Dinner on the Canal

Paul

A stunning Sunday morning beckoned us out for some exploring.

This morning, we took our favorite stroll around the pond, but we took a short detour. We walked through the colorful woods, and found the massive water tower that we can see from our beach.

I wanted to do a short drive, so we headed to Bourne to find the baseball field for the Bourne Braves of the Cape Cod Baseball League. It is located at the high school. The field is nice, with thick woods on two sides. But the view from the front of the high school is shocking. You overlook the Bourne Bridge, with the railroad bridge in the background.

Still in a baseball mindset, we headed to Wareham to find the field for the Gatemen, another Cape league team. Like Bourne, it is the local high school field.

Needing a coffee due to the end of daylight savings time, we headed past Wareham into Marion. We drove along the coast, stopping at a local marina, and past the exclusive Tabor Academy. We did find a cute little coffee shop open in Marion.

I had read that Fisherman's View restaurant in Sandwich was supposed to have one of the best clam chowders in the area. With the sun quickly setting, we headed to the canal. How surprised were we to find that the outdoor patio, along the canal, was open for dinner, with gas heaters. It is November 6, and we are sitting outside in shorts and t-shirts! BTW, the menu was too enticing so we shared a lobster roll, a lobster knuckle sandwich, and a crab melt. We didn't even try the chowder!
