Our Cape Cod Home

Many people have asked us - Just where are you living?

We decided very last minute to look for a place on Cape Cod. Our original plan was to find an AirBnB around the Denver area, and ease into our new adventure. But we decided to go big, and start at the Cape.

Well, with such very short notice, we were stressed to find a longer-term rental on Cape Cod. With the help of a local realtor, we found a cute little cottage in East Falmouth.

The house is small. According to online sources, the cottage is 864 square feet, although I question whether it is that big. It is a ranch, with one large kitchen/dining/living room, two bedrooms, one bathroom, a wood deck, and an unfinished basement. The lot is about 1/4 acre, and is currently overgrown with beautiful plants, flowers, trees, and tons of foliage.

The bedrooms are good size, and the beds are comfortable. There is plenty of storage, but since we brought so little with us, we don't need much space. The kitchen is well stocked, although we may need to purchase a few small items to supplement what we brought with us. Unfortunately, there was no air-conditioning, so we went out and purchased a small portable A/C unit that works OK.

The bathroom is small. Really small. But it is very functional . . . for one of us at a time.

The deck in the back is beautiful, with great views of the gardens. It has a table with four chairs and an umbrella, and there is a large Weber propane grill we have already used several times. The bird life in the area is very robust, and there is constant birdsong. There is a bit of wildlife as well, including sightings of rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels, and a couple groundhogs. The groundhog caught me by surprise. I had never seen one, and they are much larger than you think!

But it is the neighborhood that we love. It is quiet. Really quiet. The busy tourist areas of Falmouth seem worlds away. The stores and shops that we really depend on are only about a 6 minute drive from our house. There is a private neighborhood pond with a private beach about a 5 minute walk from our house, and I envision us swimming, kayaking and fishing here on a regular basis. The really nice beaches of Falmouth are all about a 10 minute drive away. And . . . we have a Falmouth beach parking sticker! No need to pay each day, and we can visit as many beaches as often as we like.

There are so many beautiful flowering plants, we have been able to enjoy some stunning flower arrangements.

The gardens are very overgrown, and we have plans to put in some work to clean up this beautiful lawn. Sure this is only a rental, but we are taking pride in the place, as we are calling this home for the next 3 months.
