The imposing Mt. Lemmon sits as a guardian to the city of Tucson. You can see it from all over the city, and at sunset, is a spectacle of ever-changing desert tones.
We decided to take the long drive to the top of Mt. Lemmon. What an amazing drive! From the lower portions of the mountain, there are plenty of locations to pull off the road and admire the view.
Now, Tucson is known for its very hot, dry, arid weather. We are, after all, in the middle of the massive Sonoran desert. However, after we passed by 4,000 feet in elevation, the Saguaro cactus were replaced by a whole new set of trees.
And, at the top of Mt. Lemmon is a ski area. No kidding.
And what better way to end another amazing day in Tucson by watching the setting sun light up Mt. Lemmon from Tucson.
