Lexington, Frankfurt and Fried Chicken

Paul

After shaking off a minor Bourbon hangover with a big breakfast at Checks Cafe, we hopped in the car and drove to Lexington. We enjoyed driving around the city, and we stopped to explore the University of Kentucky's pretty campus.

After Lexington, we drove to Frankfurt. Having seen several signs on the highway, we quickly decided that our first stop had to be at Rebecca Ruth Candies, home of the original Bourbon Ball. Just like it sounds, but even more delicious. Right around the corner is the beautiful Kentucky State House.

But the real reason we were visiting Frankfurt was for our scheduled tour of Buffalo Trace Distillery. Too much to mention here, so see my dedicated blog post on our tour.

Returning to Louisville, we had two important stops to make. First was to Kroger grocery store. Seriously. They have an amazing selection of incredibly priced bourbons.

Second stop was a visit to South Blvd., where we walked around this cool neighborhood and popped into The Eagle Food & Beer Hall. Fried chicken. Collards. Spoonbread. Mac and cheese, and local beer. Yes, please.
