Kentucky Bourbon Festival

Paul

Today is the day! We had secured hard-to-get tickets to the Kentucky Bourbon Festival months ago. We drove to Bardstown, a lovely and charming town about 40 miles southeast of Louisville. Along the way, we passed by the massive Jim Beam Distillery. It is as big as a town.

We were so anxious to start the fun at the Festival that we got there when it opened. We immediately started some bourbon tastings, before enjoying lunch at the Bourbon and Burgoo event, hosted by our favorite bourbon - Blantons. Not only was the Burgoo stew delicious, it included unlimited Blantons. Danger, danger.

After lunch, we headed over to the small-batch distillers section. There were so many distilleries to choose from that we struggled to pick bourbons to sample. We depended on word of mouth from strangers who gave us great suggestions.

Around 2:30p, the skies opened and the rains fell, putting an end to the Festival. That was OK by us - we had our fill of bourbon for one day.
