Goodwill Park & Long Pond

We have driven past the entrance to Goodwill Park hundreds of times. I am not sure why we never drove in to have a look around, but I am so glad that we took some time today to visit and have a walk around.

Goodwill Park is quite large, and completely surrounds Grews Pond. There is a great beach there, and what appears to be a lovely swimming pond.

The park has many places to relax and enjoy the surroundings. There is a huge playground area, many park benches, picnics benches, and lots of space.

There is a trailhead near the entry to the Park that brings you toward Long Pond. As Long Pond is a source of drinking water for Falmouth, there are many warning signs advising visitors to stay at least 100 feet away from the water at all times. With so many ponds in the Falmouth area beckoning people to swim, sail and kayak, this one is definitely off limits.

We walked along the western edge of Longs Pond, and since there is no access to the water, it is very well protected with surrounding foliage. We could catch a glimpse of this massive pond through the trees. Along the path, there is a large building where we assumed that Falmouth municipal workers had their offices.

As Long Pond is not a recreation area, it was very quiet and extremely peaceful.
