Garden of the Sleeping Giant

Paul

One of the most popular and visited sights on the main island of Viti Levu is the Garden of the Sleeping Giant. And it has taken us only 25 years to finally visit it.

Located between Nadi and Lautoka, the Garden of the Sleeping Giant is the brainchild of the famous American actor Raymond Burr, as a place to show off his incredible orchid collection. This natural beauty is located down a long, dusty, dirt road. But once inside the park, it is a natural wonderland.

The park itself is huge, with hiking trails through wooded forests, and hikes up to overlooks with commanding views. The section that displays the orchids, in comparison, is quite small. But the orchid collection itself is so impressive.

We loved walking through the park, in particular the steep hike up to the overlook. The trees, flowers, foliage - it was all very relaxing and beautiful.

At the end of our visit, we made some new, furry friends. Cuteness overload.
