We ventured down to Falmouth Harbor for a bit of fishing at the mouth of the harbor. No luck, but it was fun to be on the water, throwing out a line. As we were at the entrance to the Falmouth Marina, we got to watch some beautiful boats pass by.
After fishing, we headed down the coast to explore two beaches. Surf Drive Beach is a long, slender beach between Falmouth and Woods Hole. The sand is really nice, but today's winds were kicking up some serious swells. I would not want to be on a boat today.
We then headed west, to find the last Falmouth beach we had yet to visit. We found ourselves on Sippewissett Road, driving by some amazing homes with spectacular vistas. This is another fantastic Falmouth neighborhood. We arrived at Wood Neck Beach, and the parking lot is reserved for Resident stickers only. Thank goodness. There were more cars here than I expected, particularly since it was later in the day - around 5p or so.
This may become one of our favorite beaches.
There is a very rocky area that leads to a sandy beach. There is an inlet that leads to a marsh area, with more sandy beaches, and great spots to enter the water. As the tide was changing, the water rushed through this inlet and people were floating along for a fun ride. It is a very popular family beach, and there were loads of kids playing the shallow marsh waters.
Yup. We'll be coming back here for sure.
