Falmouth - Beaches, Ponds, Cottage, Relaxation

Our cottage is located in East Falmouth. We are living in a VERY quiet neighborhood, within a very short walk to a beautiful pond and private neighborhood beach. The houses and cottages in our neighborhood are varied and unique. There are summer homes and year-round residents. After a very short time, we immediately fell in love with this neighborhood.

While our house seems very quiet and isolated, it is close to everything we need. There are two grocery stores about a 6-minute drive away. Some restaurants are nearby. Ponds are everywhere, and so are the ocean beaches.

A short drive away are some amazing beaches: Menauhant Beach, Falmouth Heights, Old Silver Beach, Chapoquoit, Megansett and more. It is so beautiful here. The view from Menauhant across Vineyard Sound, with Martha's Vineyard on the horizon, is stunning.

Our second day on the Cape, we did the most Cape Cod thing we could think of: after dinner, we got ice cream at a local shop (Smittys) and headed to the beach. We parked at Menauhant, walked a bit on the beach, enjoyed the view to Martha's Vineyard, and took in the smells, sights and sounds of the ocean.

Ponds are ever-present throughout the Cape, and based on our experience so far, the ponds in the area are quiet, full of vibrant birdlife, and empty of people. It is so nice to walk around the ponds, and see so few people, yet hear so much birdsong.

In our opinion, the beaches are best visited after 3p. The crowds begin to clear. Traffic and parking are simplified. And if you stay long enough, the sunlight before sunset is the best.

We have a resident beach parking pass, so have access to all of the town beaches. And we will do our best to visit each and every one of them, as often as possible.
