Chatham

Paul

A few things come to mind when I hear the name Chatham: quaint, charming, nice beaches, seals, and sharks. And, our day trip to Chatham today had it all - without the shark sighting.

The drive to Chatham is about one hour from our cottage. Once there, we fell in love. The Main Street area is very charming, with some cute shops and local boutique offerings. The beaches look beautiful, despite the many and ominous Great White Shark warnings. And the driving is easy, passing by many beautiful homes, natural areas, and through some small villages.

At the Chatham Fish Pier, we saw some fishing boats, and a handful of playful seals.

With so many seals, and the corresponding shark warnings, we decided that, as much as we love Chatham, we would not want to live here for fear of going into the water. We love swimming at our Falmouth beaches so much, and we would miss out not feeling comfortable being in the water.
