Cactus, Hiking, Hoops, and a Cat in Tucson

And we're back! Tucson is such an awesome place to visit in January.

We drove to Albuquerque (the half-way point between Denver and Tucson) and spent the night in a cute little AirBnB bungalow. We loved our take-out dinner from Cocina Azul. The next morning, we had an early start for the drive to Tucson.

What was different about this visit? Well, our house-sitter wasn't available to stay at our home, so we decided to take our cat with us for the adventure. She was a bit restless in the car, as this was her first long journey away from home in all of her 17 years.

While in Tucson, we were able to do a bit of hiking at Tucson Mountain Park. We also did an amazing hike up King Canyon, in Saguaro National Park.

We also were lucky to have gotten tickets to the University of Arizona men's basketball game against Utah.

And, after having visited Tucson dozens of times, we finally did the walk up Tumamoc Hill. This is a very popular hike in Tucson. A good workout, and nice views from the top.

The night before we departed for home, we enjoyed a great dinner and some beers at Barrio Brewing. I can't believe we have not visited here on our past visits.

We have plane reservations for our next visit to Tucson in May. That one will be special - our son is graduating from the University of Arizona. This will be a bittersweet visit. So proud to witness our son's graduation, but knowing that our 4-times per year visits to Tucson will be ending. We will surely be back to Tucson in the future, but not having our son here when we visit will surely make it seem a bit strange. Nonetheless, we have been so fortunate to have spent so much time in the desert southwest.
