Bourne & Cranberries

It was overcast and foggy today, with the sun teasing us with occasional sightings. So, we decided to enjoy a nice drive in North Falmouth and Bourne.

I am currently reading the book The Big House, which is about a large family home situated on Wings Neck in Bourne. The book vividly describes the area, and we love visiting the places that are mentioned.

We drove around the Old Silver Beach neighborhoods, making our way north towards Megansett. For the first time, we drove around Scraggy Neck (a favorite street sign for us!). We stopped at a nature park along the way to take in the sights, sounds and smells of the area.

We continued to Barlows Landing, where we found a local dock with views of Wings Neck and Bassets Island Landing.

A drive around Wings Neck was unsuccessful for us trying to find the Big House. We know it is in here somewhere!

On our way back home, we drove by our neighborhood cranberry bogs to find a team harvesting the berries. It is a very cool procedure, as they flood the bogs, shake the bushes, and collect the floating cranberries. Looks like a lot of work. But with the beautiful backdrop, it was a very cool thing to watch.
