Autumn at the Beach

Gone are the crowds. Gone are the scantily-clad sun-worshippers. Gone are the families building sand castles and splashing in the ocean.

But the beach and ocean remain. Autumn at the Cape is a special time, and there is nothing better than a deserted beach. We drove to Falmouth Heights beach this afternoon, beach chairs and books in hand. We practically had it to ourselves. Of course, it was a bit cool, and very windy. We didn't last long. The wind whipped up the sand, and we were getting sand-blasted, despite finding a somewhat protected area. We returned to the safe confines of our car, opened the windows, and sat in the parking lot to do some reading. Still an amazing view, with the sounds of the waves gently reaching the shores.

The weather is cooler. We are no longer in swimsuits. But we most certainly are not done with our beach experiences, and we will return as often as we can until the weather declares an end to our beach year. We will be back, and continue to take advantage of our local Falmouth beaches.
