Roma Norte

When we arrived to Mexico City, our goal was to do as much exploring of the city as possible, and as much of that on foot. And boy did we do this today!

We started near our apartment, and walked towards the main road of Paseo de la Reforma. Along the way, we saw some amazing buildings with very modern architecture.

As we crossed Paseo de la Reforma, we entered the very chic and popular Roma Norte neighborhood. On our previous two visits to Mexico City, we had done a bit of exploring of this cool area, and today we wanted to expand out a bit and see more.

There is something new and different around every corner. A pretty park. A trendy restaurant. A modern apartment building next to a dilapidated historical building. And even a small shrine at an intersection.

At Plate de Madrid, we found a beautiful, ornate fountain, with a modern high rise as a backdrop.

Further down the road, we saw a fun dog mural.

We made our way down to Parque Espana, which is a beautiful park with several fun areas, including a very busy and rambunctious dog park.

Dogs ever everywhere in Mexico City. And many of them are wearing trendy sweaters, coats, jackets, designer-wear, etc. At the dog park, there were several dog walkers who were magically controlling up to 6 dogs at a time. It was obvious that they were pros at this dog walking stuff, and the dogs were absolutely loving the park.

From the park, we walked along the tree-laden Avenue Alvaro Obregon. This is an incredible neighborhood, with loads of gorgeous houses, shops, restaurants, and a central path that goes down the middle of the avenue, complete with replicas of some of the world's finest sculptures.

Along the Avenue is the famous Cafebreria El Pendulo, a beautiful bookstore.

And all along the way, you can find awesome street art and murals on buildings.

We meandered a bit off of the Avenue to explore two parks: Plaza Luis Cabrera and Plaza Rio de Janeiro, complete with a replica of Michelangelo's David. As it was a warm and sunny day, there were loads of people out enjoying the beautiful weather and lovely scenery.

We stopped for a quick bite at Plaza Rio de Janeiro and enjoyed the view. Some cool buildings, and really nice looking apartments.

And, like pretty much everywhere in Mexico City, we came across a stunningly beautiful church. These are literally around every corner.
