Puerto Vallarta!

When we were planning our 4-month stay in Mexico, we decided that our last stop should be relaxing. Hot, sunny weather. Good food. Beaches.

And here we are in Puerto Vallarta.

Our flight to Puerto Vallarta required us to take a van from San Miguel to the Queretaro Airport. It is a super short flight to PV - about one hour. Our bags were on the airport carrousel practically the same time as when we walked in. So, we hired and Uber and made our way to our condo.

We arrived to our hilltop condo just as the sun was setting. Magical! Our host led us into the condo, as the orange sun lit up the rooms. At first, we didn't even notice the condo. We immediately walked to the two sliding glass doors that open to the expansive balcony. The view of the ocean and sunset is incredible!

We dropped our bags and headed into town for dinner. A busy Cuban restaurant on the very busy Malecon.

To be completely honest, the condo is a bit tired. But the view makes it all worthwhile. We love it here. We do have a neighborhood menagerie of animals. About a million crowing roosters, which makes waking up in the morning quite funny. Lots of barking dogs, and meowing cats. Some construction noise nearby. To summarize: it sounds like Mexico.

However, the amazing view comes with a price. In order to get to the main area of PV, and down to the beaches, we have to walk down a rocky, sandy path to get to some stairs that lead to the very steep roads. Along the way, we have made fast friends of the neighborhood cat brigade, who come running when they see us. Lisa is quickly getting her cat fix living here.

The walk to PV is steep and fast. The walk back to the condo is steep and slow!

Our first couple days in PV were busy with getting supplies. A 20-minute walk to the traditional Mercado brought us by some shops, cafes, and the town's large cemetery. We shopped for some fresh fruits and vegetables at the Mercado before heading to the grocery store. The store was very disappointing, so we had to visit a larger, more modern grocery the next day.

We have enjoyed the food here so far. Our routine of breakfast at home, lunch out, and dinner at home continues. We found a wonderful taco joint a couple blocks from the beach, just far enough away from the touristy area to be filled with locals. The birria tacos were awesome. The next day, we found a small family-run restaurant that had large clay pots filled with different meats and vegetables. Very delicious and super affordable for PV.

But it is the view from our condo that gets us most excited. Two days in, and we have enjoyed two Happy Hours, with our homemade guacamole, chelada beers, and a sunset show for the senses. I don't know if we will watch sunset every night, but if so, we have the perfect location. This may just be the best possible spot to finish our 4 month Mexico adventure.
