Playa del Carmen, Mexico

We arrived to the airport in Cancun Mexico and were surprised that it was not terribly busy. We sailed through Immigration and Customs, and found our rental car shuttle pretty quickly.

The drive from Cancun to Playa del Carmen shows how much has changed since the last time we visited Cancun - in April of 1991! None of this was here back then, and we were shocked to find so many massive resort properties.

We had decided early on to avoid all-inclusive resorts, so we found a very affordable 2-bedroom condo, about 2 blocks from the beach and near the action in Playa del Carmen. Our requirements for the condo were simple: clean, parking included, and within walking distance of the beach and restaurants.

For the most part, we are very happy with our choice in this condo. The rooftop pool deck is awesome.

Upon arrival to Playa, we dumped our bags, and headed towards our first of what will be daily Happy Hours.

As it is International Women's Day, we even found ourselves in the middle of a parade heading down the popular 5th Avenue pedestrian street.

We ended the evening with some really good food, a few more drinks, and a relaxing evening enjoying the warm Mexican weather.
