Today is our final day in Mexico City. We arrived 30 days ago, and never in our wildest imagination would we have thought that we could have seen so much, done so much (eaten so much!), and experienced so much of this amazing city. We have taken full advantage of our time in CDMX, and we love it here.
While we are most certainly ready for a change, we will miss our daily adventures. We will miss having the chance to schedule day trips and overnight adventures. We will miss the hustle and bustle (and we won't miss it, if you know what I mean). We will miss the amazing smells, but not miss the awful smells. We will miss the people and the culture that make CDMX a pulsating city.
Today, we decided to just stroll. We walked from our apartment down to Reforma, where there was a protest happening to bring light to political prisoners who have gone 'missing'.
We watched as thousands of people on bikes, rollerblades, running and walking take over this amazing Avenue every Sunday. We even saw a fun mobile exercise center take up part of the closed road.
We will certainly miss the public art that we find around every corner, including this impressive artwork that has been shared worldwide.
Our strolling took us down to the Condessa neighborhood, still one of our favorites, where we grabbed a quick lunch at an outdoor restaurant. We then headed to one of our most favorite places - Parque Mexico. This is the best place to sit, people watch, and take in a relaxing Mexico City Sunday. Kids playing soccer. Couples taking dance lessons. People learning to rollerblade. Dogs playing fetch. Music everywhere. Food stalls and activity all around. A great dog park, and organizations encouraging people to adopt cats and dogs. We love it here and will miss this amazing place of respite.
We didn't want to leave, but we needed to return to the apartment to finish packing, preparing for our next stop - Oaxaca.
Adios Ciudad Mexico. Hope to see you again very soon.
