Museos, Pizza, Murals & Birthday Cake

Happy Birthday Lisa! Pretty cool that we are celebrating your birthday in Oaxaca!

Today we have decided on a relaxed day. Some walking, some museums, some exploring, and for sure finishing the day with some birthday cake.

We walked into Centro and our first stop was the Textile museum. What? Yeah, they have a textile museum in Oaxaca. It is really small and actually very cool. Some beautiful textile work on display.

Next to this museum is the Central Cultural San Pablo. Located in an old convent, this is an amazing place, with modern art, a super cool and modern library, and some fantastic art displays. We loved the colorful umbrellas hanging above the courtyard.

The art inside is awesome.

In the galleries that surround the library, we were particularly taken by two incredible photos.

After the textile and art museums, we decided to head north to the Xochimilco neighborhood, which is known for its amazing street art and murals. It did not let us down. The murals are incredible! I have created a blog entry just for the murals, but here is a sample:

For lunch, we headed back towards Centro to Cafe Lombardo, which was recommended to us as having great pizza. It did!

We stopped by a local bakery for a slice of cake, and grabbed a taxi back to our house. Tonight's dinner was casual: salad, leftover pizza, and some birthday cake.

Not a bad way to celebrate a birthday.
