Exploring San Miguel de Allende

This town is preparing for a party! San Miguel de Allende is considered one of the best places to experience Dia de los Meurtos, and it seems like everyone in town is ready to party.

We are ready to explore this beautiful city. The first and most important priority: comfortable shoes. These cobblestone streets are brutal.

We walked the one-way streets and alleys through our neighborhood, onto one of the main streets in the city, to get to the hilltop location of the Temple de la Purisima Concepcion. This church has very cool brick archways and ceilings.

Directly next to the church is a large art school, with an open-air courtyard. The school is very well decorated for the holiday.

Delving further deeper into the city, we see near a park that volunteers are beginning to put together a huge mural on the ground, decorated with flowers.

Around every corner of this city, there is another beautiful site, historical building, or creative decoration. This really is turning into the most amazing walking tour.

With the arrival of more friends who flew in this morning, it was time to catch up with them and have some lunch. Salud!

Back to some exploring. The city was now even busier. More and more people getting their faces painted, wearing intricate costumes, and floral decorations everywhere.

It was time for us to return to our house, and prepare for the evening festivities.
