Exploring, Hot Springs, and a Bus

Paul

Today is our last day in San Miguel de Allende. This city just beckons you to walk and explore, so we did. We walked towards the main plaza, and found a great breakfast spot. The whole city is still richly decorated for Dia de los Muertos, and we love all the flowers and decorations.

This afternoon, we decided to try something different. Just outside of town is La Gruta, a hot springs area. Perfect for relaxing and soaking tired legs and feet from all our walking. We hopped in an Uber and took the drive out to the springs. It was a large facility, with many pools, and even a tunnel you can walk through to get to a hidden cave. Very cool.

What we did not plan on was how to get back into the city. Uber would not come out this far (you can only take Uber one-way). Taxis were impossible to catch. So, we picked the closest bus and hoped that it would take us into town. Thankfully, it dropped us off at the bus terminal in the city. We walked next door to pick up some delicious roasted chickens from a store, and made it back to our house for a nice relaxing evening.

San Miguel de Allende far exceeded our expectations. It is a stunning city. The restaurants are great. The weather is near perfection. And I can think of no better weekend to have visited this amazing city.
