4 Weddings & 2 Quinceaneras

Today was a walking kind of day. This morning, we decided just to stroll through some of our favorite areas. We came across some fun sights including two men putting together mosaic artwork against someone's exterior wall. Next to them was a massive recycling container in the shape of a chihuahua. And speaking of dogs, we were barked at by a rooftop dog - a pretty common occurrence.

Once we made it into the city, we noticed that it was Wedding and Quinceanera day. We saw four different weddings (actually, we lost count - it may have been as many as 6!). In addition, we saw two Quinceaneras. The city center was packed with people, and the main cathedral had back-to-back-to-back weddings scheduled. The Immaculate Conception church, while off the main square, had what appeared to be the most elaborate wedding, as they had decorated the entire entrance to the church in beautiful flowers.

Also in the main square were competing mariachis. We counted at least 5 different mariachi bands roaming the square, playing for anyone who requested it (and paid for it). The main square was a very lively place, full of happy people and great mariachi music. It was a wonderful day for celebrations.
